Grown in slightly gentler conditions than Barolo, Barbaresco ripens earlier and requires less time in barrel before release. Elegant rather than imposing, though the tannins are still very much present. Piedmont, in Italy's northwest, is Nebbiolo's home ground and produces some of the country's longest-lived reds. Bottled by Virna Borgogno Montersino from the 2022 harvest. Decant for an hour. Serve with veal, risotto, mushroom dishes, or aged cheeses.
