Sessantanni means sixty years — the age of the bush-trained Primitivo vines in Manduria that go into this bottling. Old vines yield very little fruit, and what they do produce is concentrated: this is a big, warm, dark-fruited southern Italian red with sweet spice and a soft, almost velvety finish. Puglia's answer to Zinfandel, which is the same grape by a different name. Serve with lamb, sausage, aged cheese, or a rich baked pasta.
