San Leonardo is Trentino's most famous red, made by the Guerrieri Gonzaga family in the Vallagarina, where the Adige valley opens toward Lake Garda. It is a Bordeaux-style blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère and Merlot, and it leans elegant: cassis, red currant, green herb and cedar over firm, fine tannins. San Leonardo, 2020 vintage. Decant for an hour or cellar for years. Serve with roast veal, venison with berries, or aged mountain cheeses.
