Podernuovo a Palazzone is an estate in San Casciano dei Bagni, in the far south of Tuscany near the Umbrian border, owned by the Bulgari family. G33 is its top red, a blend of Sangiovese, Merlot and Petit Verdot: Sangiovese gives cherry and bright acidity, Merlot adds plum and roundness, and Petit Verdot brings deep color, violet and firm structure. Dark fruit, spice and earth, now gaining savory notes with bottle age. Podernuovo a Palazzone, 2018 vintage. Decant for an hour or two. Pair with grilled steak, roast game, or aged pecorino.
