Sassoalloro is Sangiovese from Castello di Montepò, the estate in the Morellino di Scansano hills of southern Tuscany run by Jacopo Biondi Santi, of the family that created Brunello di Montalcino. Expect sour cherry, dried herbs, and a touch of earth, with bright acidity and firm but polished tannins. Jacopo Biondi Santi, 2024 vintage. Give it half an hour of air and serve slightly below room temperature. Try it with bistecca, wild boar ragù, or pecorino.
