The Biondi Santi name is inseparable from Brunello — the family effectively invented it in the nineteenth century. Castello di Montepò is Jacopo Biondi Santi's estate in the Maremma, on Tuscany's warmer coastal side, and Sassoalloro is its Sangiovese bottling. Coastal Maremma gives softer, riper, more immediately drinkable wine than the hills of Montalcino. Good now, with grilled meat or a hearty pasta.
