The Langhe hills southwest of Alba produce Barolo, a wine required to spend at least three years maturing before release. Aromatically it leans floral and red-fruited; structurally it is one of the most tannic wines in the world. The Langhe hills of Piedmont are fog-prone and steep, and the region's best sites face south for every hour of sun they can get. Bottled by Giovanni Viberti from the 2021 harvest. Decant at least ninety minutes ahead, or cellar it. Classic with braised beef, truffle, risotto, and aged cheese.
