Barbaresco is Nebbiolo's other great expression, and often the more approachable of the two. The aromatic signature is the same — rose, tar, red cherry — but the frame is softer and comes around years sooner. The Langhe hills of Piedmont are fog-prone and steep, and the region's best sites face south for every hour of sun they can get. Bottled by Gaja Sorì San Lorenzo from the 2021 harvest. A shorter decant than Barolo needs — thirty to sixty minutes. Good with roast poultry, pasta with truffle, and firm cheeses.
