Idda is the joint project of Piedmont's Gaja family and Etna grower Alberto Graci on the slopes of Mount Etna in Sicily, and the name means she in Sicilian dialect, a local way of referring to the volcano. The red is built on Nerello Mascalese: sour cherry, wild strawberry, blood orange and a smoky, volcanic minerality, with fine tannins and fresh acidity. Idda, 2023 vintage. Serve slightly cool after a short decant. Pair with grilled swordfish, pasta with sausage, or roast chicken.
