Magari is the Bolgheri Rosso from Ca'Marcanda, the estate Angelo Gaja built on the Tuscan coast, where Bordeaux varieties rather than Sangiovese do the heavy lifting. It is a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. Expect dark plum, cassis and a savory, herbal edge, with polished tannins and more finesse than weight. Gaja, 2023 vintage. Give it an hour in a decanter now, or cellar it for several years. Try it with grilled lamb chops, bistecca, or pappardelle with wild boar ragù.
