Poggio Valente is the single-vineyard Morellino di Scansano from Fattoria le Pupille in the Maremma, southern Tuscany. Morellino is the local name for Sangiovese, and here it is riper and rounder than in Chianti. Black cherry, plum, and sweet spice with smooth, firm tannins and a long finish. Fattoria le Pupille, 2022 vintage. Decant for an hour. Serve with wild boar stew, grilled lamb, or pici with meat sauce.
