Gewürztraminer is thought to take its name from the village of Tramin in Alto Adige, and Elena Walch's Kastelaz vineyard is a steep, south-facing slope above that very town. Expect lychee, rose petal, candied ginger, grapefruit and exotic spice, with a full, silky texture and a dry finish. Elena Walch, 2024 vintage. Serve cool rather than icy, around 50 degrees. Try it with Thai or Indian curries, Munster cheese, or roast pork with apples.
