Romano Dal Forno is one of the most exacting producers in Valpolicella, working in the Illasi valley east of Verona. His Valpolicella Superiore from Monte Lodoletta is made from Corvina and other local grapes, partially dried before fermentation, giving it near-Amarone depth. Black cherry, blackberry, cocoa and spice with a dense, velvety body. Dal Forno Romano, 2018 vintage. Decant for a couple of hours. Serve with braised beef, venison, or aged Monte Veronese.
