Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Riserva is the more serious, longer-aged tier of Abruzzo's classic red. Castorani is an estate at Alanno, in the hills of Pescara province. Dark cherry, plum, licorice, and spice, with a fuller body and more structure than everyday Montepulciano, along with firm, ripe tannins. Castorani, 2021 vintage. Decant for 30 minutes. Pair with lamb arrosticini, braised beef, or pasta with sausage ragù.
