Castello Banfi has done more than almost anyone to bring Brunello to an international audience, farming an enormous estate in the south of Montalcino and researching Sangiovese clones for decades. The 2019 is a strong vintage — ripe but balanced — and this is a good, reliable introduction to what Brunello does. Decant thirty to sixty minutes. Serve with beef, game, or a long-cooked ragù.
