Cont'Ugo is the Merlot from Tenuta Guado al Tasso, the Antinori family's large estate in Bolgheri on the Tuscan coast, where Merlot does particularly well in the warm, maritime climate. Expect plum, black cherry, cocoa and a hint of Mediterranean herbs, with a plush, velvety texture and soft tannins. Antinori Guado al Tasso, 2024 vintage. Approachable young; a short decant helps. Serve with grilled pork chops, duck breast, or mushroom risotto.
