Ribera del Duero is a high plateau region along the Duero River in north-central Spain, where Tempranillo, locally called Tinto Fino, makes powerful, age-worthy reds. Protos is one of the region's founding wineries, based in Peñafiel. The Gran Reserva receives the longest aging of the range before release.
