2016 is widely considered one of Montalcino's outstanding recent vintages — a long, even growing season that gave Sangiovese both ripeness and the acidity to age. Poggiarellino is a small estate working traditionally, and its Brunello shows the classic profile: sour cherry, dried herbs, leather, and firm structure. Nearly a decade on, this is drinking beautifully and has room to keep going. Decant, and serve with something substantial.
