Commanderie de Peyrassol is a historic estate in Provence, and Le Clos Peyrassol is a selection from one of its walled vineyards; although listed under the Rhône here, it is a Côtes de Provence red. Provence is known for rosé, but its reds, typically blends of Mediterranean grapes such as Syrah, Grenache and Cabernet Sauvignon, can be serious. Expect dark cherry, plum, garrigue and a savory edge, with firm tannins. Peyrassol, 2019 vintage. Decant for an hour. Serve with lamb with herbs, ratatouille, or beef stew.
