Peter Franus is a small, long-running Napa Valley label, and the Brandlin Vineyard is an old, dry-farmed hillside site on Mount Veed. Mourvèdre is best known from Bandol and the southern Rhône, and here it makes a savory, dark wine: blackberry, plum, leather, dried herbs and a meaty, earthy edge, with firm tannins.
