Cornas is a small, steep northern Rhône appellation of pure Syrah, known for its dark, wild, powerful wines. The Verset name is one of the most respected there thanks to the late Noël Verset, whose old-vine Cornas became legendary. Blackberry, black olive, pepper, and smoked meat over firm, dense tannins. Verset, 2019 vintage. Decant for an hour or more. Serve with grilled lamb, venison, or beef stew.
