Chateauneuf-du-Pape is the southern Rhone's great red, a Grenache-led blend grown among the large stones around the village. This one comes from Louis Barruol of Chateau de Saint Cosme, whose Gigondas estate is among the region's most respected. Ripe red fruit, garrigue, and spice over a broad, warm frame. Chateau de Saint Cosme, 2024 vintage. Young, it needs a long decant or several years of cellaring. Serve with braised lamb shanks, beef daube, or roast duck.
