Chappellet was one of the first wineries on Napa Valley's Pritchard Hill, a rocky, high-elevation area known for structured Cabernet. Mountain Cuvée is the winery's more approachable red, a Bordeaux-style blend of varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Expect black cherry, blackberry, cocoa and a hint of spice, with smooth, rounded tannins. Chappellet, 2023 vintage. Enjoyable now; a short decant helps. Serve with grilled burgers, braised short ribs, or roast pork loin.
