In the northern Rhône Syrah is elegant and peppery; in Australia, as Shiraz, it turns rich and sweet-fruited. Blackberry, olive, smoked meat and cracked pepper, with firm structure underneath. The Rhône splits in two: Syrah alone in the steep northern sector, Grenache-led blends across the broader, warmer south. Anne Pichon 'Sauvage' Syrah/Grenache is the name on the bottle. Serve at cool room temperature. Excellent with grilled lamb, peppered steak, and braised dishes.
