Akkeshi distills in eastern Hokkaido, in a cold, foggy coastal setting deliberately chosen for its resemblance to Islay — and it names its releases after the twenty-four Japanese solar terms. Keichitsu marks the moment in early spring when hibernating insects stir. The whisky is peated, but with the restraint and precision that distinguishes Japanese production from Scottish. Small volumes, and each solar-term release stands alone.
