Thin-skinned and fussy about site, Pinot Noir shows where it came from more clearly than almost any other grape. Red cherry and raspberry over an earthy, savory base, with light color that belies its complexity. Oregon's Willamette Valley sits at roughly the same latitude as Burgundy and makes Pinot Noir with a similar sensibility. This is the 2021 from St. Innocent Shea. Serve slightly cool, around 60°F; a warm pour loses most of the detail. Good with grilled salmon, roast duck, or anything with mushrooms.
