Pugnitello is a native Tuscan grape that had nearly disappeared before San Felice rediscovered and replanted it in its research vineyard in Castelnuovo Berardenga. On its own it makes a deeply colored, full red: black cherry, blackberry, violet and sweet spice, with ample but ripe tannins. San Felice, 2021 vintage. Decant for about an hour. Pair with grilled lamb, wild boar stew, or pappardelle with duck ragù.
