Podere Forte is Pasquale Forte's biodynamic estate in the Val d'Orcia, the hills just east of Montalcino, and Petrucci Melo is a single-vineyard Sangiovese under the Orcia DOC. It shows Sangiovese's classic profile with depth: sour cherry, blood orange, dried herbs, leather and firm, fine tannins. Podere Forte, 2015 vintage. With some age already, it is drinking now; decant gently. Serve with roast pheasant, pici with meat ragù, or aged pecorino.
