Bramaterra is a small appellation in Alto Piemonte, the hills north of the Langhe, where Nebbiolo is blended with local grapes such as Croatina and Vespolina and grown on acidic volcanic soils. The result is leaner and more fragrant than Barolo: red cherry, rose, dried herbs and a mineral, iron-tinged finish with firm but fine tannins. Noah, 2021 vintage. Decant for an hour. Serve with braised veal, risotto with porcini, or Toma and other mountain cheeses.
