The Spot whiskeys trace back to Mitchell & Son, a Dublin wine and spirits merchant that bonded its own casks and marked them with a spot of coloured paint to indicate age. Blue Spot is bottled at cask strength and matured across bourbon, sherry, and Madeira casks. Single pot still — a distinctly Irish style using both malted and unmalted barley — gives it a creamy, spicy texture nothing else quite replicates.
