Jumilla, in the dry uplands of Murcia, is Monastrell country, and Bodegas Luzón is one of the appellation's established names. Alma de Luzón is the winery's top red, built on old-vine Monastrell for a dense, ripe style: blackberry, fig, cocoa and a warm, savory finish with firm tannins. Luzón, 2021 vintage. Decant for an hour and serve just below room temperature. Try it with grilled lamb, slow-roasted pork shoulder, or aged Manchego.
