Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the everyday red of Italy's Adriatic coast, made from the Montepulciano grape (not to be confused with the Tuscan town of the same name). This bottling from I Lauri shows the grape's usual character: dark cherry, plum, and a touch of earth with soft, rounded tannins. Pinciaie is the name on the label, no vintage listed. Serve slightly below room temperature. It works with pizza, pasta all'amatriciana, grilled sausages, or lamb arrosticini.
