Hudson Vineyards is a well-known grower in the Carneros district of Napa Valley, a cool area near San Pablo Bay whose fruit is sought after by many top wineries. Phoenix is the estate's own Bordeaux-style red, a blend of Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Expect plum, black cherry and cassis from the Merlot and Cabernet, a lift of red fruit and herbs from the Cabernet Franc, and a fresh edge from the cool climate. Hudson, 2019 vintage. Decant for half an hour. Pair with grilled lamb, duck breast, or mushroom dishes.
