Campania's Roccamonfina volcano is the source of this Aglianico-based red, blended with a little Piedirosso and made by Galardi, a small estate that produces essentially one wine. Volcanic soil shows in the smoky, mineral character alongside black cherry, dark plum, licorice and firm, dense tannins. Galardi, 2021 vintage. Plan on a long decant or several more years in the cellar. Try it with wild boar stew, grilled sausages, or short ribs.
