Terra di Lavoro comes from the slopes of Roccamonfina, an extinct volcano in northern Campania, and Galardi's single wine helped show what Aglianico can do there. Blended with a little Piedirosso, it is deep and brooding: black cherry, plum, smoke, licorice and a firm, volcanic grip. Galardi, 2020 vintage. Decant for an hour or more, or set it aside for years. Serve with braised beef, lamb ragù, or aged provolone.
