Carmignano, west of Florence, has blended Cabernet with Sangiovese for centuries — the Medici were already planting French grapes here — and Capezzana is the appellation's historic leader. Villa di Capezzana is its classic red: cherry, plum, dried herbs and a touch of cassis over firm, fine tannins. Capezzana, 2020 vintage. Decant for 30 minutes. Pair with roast pork with fennel, beef stew, or ribollita.
