Ardbeg is the most uncompromising of Islay's peated malts — tar, soot, brine, and lemon, with a smoke that lingers long after the whisky is gone. Bottled at 46% and non-chill-filtered, which preserves texture the standard 40% treatment strips out. This is not a gateway malt and doesn't pretend to be. Neat, with water only if you want to open the citrus underneath the smoke.
